I proudly serve the LGBTQIA+ Community:
There is something that moves me enthusiastically when I have the honor to officiate an LGBTQIA+ wedding because it has taken great courage for you to be true to who you are in the face of oppressors. It has taken even greater courage to profess your love for one another openly and now that you have this newly given civil right your light shines brighter than ever.
Prior to 2015, the ceremonies for LGBTQIA+ couples were simply a means for them to make a commitment to each other in the presence of the family and friends they trusted, it was a symbolic gesture of their union, bearing no legal power, right or weight in the eyes of the law.
For me, it is a multi-faceted celebration when I have an LGBTQIA+ couple exchanging their vows and rings in front of me. Not only does it fill my heart with joy because two hearts are joining as one but also because this marriage now has the weight of the Supreme Court and the President of the United States behind it. It took the will of many decent people to recognize and stand up for a civil right that some of us may have even taken for granted.
It is with great honor and appreciation that I serve this community for those who have had the courage of heart and the strength of spirit to become the catalyst of change that has birthed a new way to live.
Let’s celebrate your love in the way that best reflects you!
“At some point in our lifetime, gay marriage won’t be an issue, and everyone who stood against this civil right will look as outdated as George Wallace standing on the school steps keeping James Hood from entering the University of Alabama because he was black.”
